Forum Rules
PhoenixLabs.org RULES - 09/14/06
(including IRC channel and other areas covered under PhoenixLabs)
We hope you take advantage of the resources here and take part in helping other members find the answers to their questions. Please refer to the end of the rules for information on finding the information you're looking for.
Now to the rules...
(Staff are exempt from signature and avatar rules)
Failure to follow these rules may result in you being officially warned: 3 warnings and you will be permanently banned from the forum, subject to admin discretion. You will be informed when you have breached the rules.
Rights
SuperMods have the final say in any matter and have the whole right to modify, to move or to close any of the created threads. If you have a problem with any of these matters please PM an Administrator.
Forum Posting
Please familiarize yourself with the different forum sections because posting in the wrong forum section will result in a warning. Please also use the forum search function HERE and read all forum stickies, guides, FAQ, etc before posting a thread as the questions and/or points you are bringing up may already be in an existing thread. This is to respect the time spent by staff and members of the forum...
No Stealing
Do not post material from these forums without the proper authorization from the author or Administration of the site. We do like to help share, but not at the cost of all the hard work people have put into their posts, if you do so please post a link back saying where the work was done. You cannot take credit for any PhoenixLabs.org news articles. If you repost a PhoenixLabs.org news article on any site please ensure you also post a hyperlink to the article at the PhoenixLabs forum.
Advertising
Advertising or soliciting other members to buy, sell or peruse any products or services through this discussion forum is not permitted. Chain letters and junk mail are also strictly prohibited. Topics and/or posts that contain this will be both edited and locked. This includes online programs to sign up for, referral url's and online money programs.
Flaming
Material that is knowingly defamatory, illegal, abusive, threatening or harassing, is strictly prohibited. As with anything, you, as a member, should use good common sense when posting. In other words, you agree not to be a jerk. Posts containing personal attacks on another user will be edited or deleted with no warning or consent.
Staff
If you are rude to a member of staff in public or in a private message then it could result in an instant ban. Our staff members use up their free time without getting paid to help people here. If you must question what a staff member posted or did then do it politely or in a private message to them. If you are not happy with their response then contact one of our staff Administrators.
Right to Privacy
You will not violate a person's privacy by publishing information against another member’s will, information that is private and personal. If you violate this rule, your account may be automatically banned without prior warning.
Spamming
Topics/posts that are just complete nonsense will be deleted, or have the entire thread locked, at the moderators discretion. If you violate this rule, your account may be automatically banned without prior warning.
Private Messaging
Please use the forum section resources to find the answers to your issues. Do not private message or email a staff member for an answer to one of your questions that can be found in the forum or you could be warned. Private Messaging (PM) is traditionally for off topic talk between known members. Using Private Messaging to spam other members will not be tolerated under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban from the forum.
Racism
Topics/posts containing such will be edited or deleted accordingly. If you violate this rule, your account may be automatically banned without prior warning.
Religion, Politics
Do not discuss or initiate religious or political subject anywhere other than the chat lounge- we have a diverse group of members and those topics usually end up in flaming from other members whether intended or not. Moderators have the right to delete any religious or political statements which are considered offensive to preserve the constructive environment of the forum. Politically offensive statements will be considered under Racism/Offense rules.
Sexual Material
Material that is sexually or otherwise obscene is not permitted on these forums. Topics/posts containing such will be deleted on sight. If you violate this rule, your account may be automatically banned without prior warning.
Warez
Providing or asking for information on how to illegally obtain "warez", "gamez" or any other software or work protected by copyright law is strictly forbidden. This includes posting, requesting or even linking to websites that directly host them and Warez programs. Providing information on how to crack or posting Sig2Dat / ed2k / direct links to the files themselves is also not allowed! If you violate this rule, your account may be automatically banned without prior warning, This also includes tools that are specifically designed to cause damage or denial of service to other machines.
Post Pumping
If a post is suspected to serve no other purpose than to increase the post count of the poster, then the moderators may, at their discretion, issue a PM to the member in question enquiring about the nature of the post. Posts/Threads that are blatantly post pumping will be removed and/or locked without recourse to the poster. Also, please make sure to edit an existing post if you need to add something shortly after making the first post.
If you have something to ask, only ask it in one post! Do not post the same question or information in different posts! (This includes posting additional posts within minutes of the first one- please use the edit option to add whatever you need to the first post.) Staff are exempt from this rule.
Cross-posting
Posting the same question in more than one forum is not allowed. Should this occur, then only the thread in the most relevant forum will be left open; all others will be locked and subsequently deleted.
Signature Size
To keep the page loading time and visual annoyance factor down to a minimum, ensure your graphical signatures do not exceed a maximum of 12,500 pixels or 15 kilobytes file size, whichever is reached first. Alternatively, three lines of text can be used as a signature. Do not pad out your text lines with blanks lines. A line of text is defined such that it does not wrap when viewed at a resolution of 640x480.
If these limits are exceeded then you may be contacted by a moderator requesting an amendment to your signature. If none is made within a reasonable period of time, then a moderator may remove your signature from your profile.
StreamRippers
Due to legal liability issues, any information or references to information about streamripping applications are strictly prohibited within these forums. Any threads/posts containing such information may be edited and/or deleted without warning.
Script Hacks
Due to current events on Phoenix Labs Forum, entering in script hacks and/or placing script hacks on phoenixlabs.org to redirect the Phoenix Labs website to another website, you will be banned, no questions asked, There will be no warnings and please do not test us on this one. WE WILL BAN YOU FOREVER.
Reporting Posts
What should we do if I see objectionable material on the forums? Use the report option next to the related post if it's on violation of any rules. Please use the report option only for rule violations...
Giving Advice
If a member and/or staff member gives advice to you via forum, threads, private message, email, messenger service, IRC or verbal, we are not responsible for the out come of the advice. If you choose to use the advice you can not hold any members and/or staff member at fault for giving the advice. For legal reasons you are responsible for what you do; not the advice provider, even if the advice provider gives you bad/wrong advice. You are responsible for your actions and not the fault of the advice provider and/or Phoenix Lab Productions. You must take full responsibly of your actions. WE CANNOT BE HELD LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES THAT YOU AND/OR YOUR COMPANY MAY SUFFER DUE TO THE ADVICE PROVIDER(S).
It is important that members recognize the real-time nature of these forums; the moderators cannot always monitor the contents of posted messages. As such, we depend upon you to inform them when members are violating our rules. You must also recognize that they cannot respond immediately to such notices and that some time may pass before any warranted action is taken.
Account Registration
When registering for an account here at Phoenix Labs we expect you to be the owner of the account that you signed up for and is only to be used by the one which is you who signed up for the account. Administrators here at Phoenix Labs have the right to delete your account without notice. Our services here are free and so is account registration, please do not share account names.

1) Article copying. You may freely distribute articles posted on this website; however you must credit the author of the work and link to this website.
